According to the 2019 URA Draft Master Plan for Singapore, the Jurong Gateway will feature Jurong Lake District (JLD), the largest commercial district outside the CBD, and the premier high-tech manufacturing hub comprising Jurong and Tuas industrial estates. The Western Gateway will leverage on improved transport linkages and Tuas Port’s global maritime connectivity to facilitate the seamless movements of goods, services and people. With the world-class universities such as NUS and NTU in the West, this region is also an ideal location for businesses, academia and talent to integrate for better collaboration and innovation.
URA (Urban Redevelopment Authority) also states that the West region will be served by 6 rail lines for easy access to offices & factories, recreation and leisure spots. With the new Jurong Region Line and Cross Island Line, the area will have more commuting options for workers & residents. The future Jurong East Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) will also make Jurong Lake District more convenient and vibrant for all. (source: URA).
